Marine Students and Staff

The Naval Academy Preparatory School (NAPS) exists to sort out applicants from the Navy and Marine Corps who are seeking Fleet Appointments to the U. S. Naval Academy at Annapolis. The school, now at Naval Station, Newport, RI was previously at the NavaUSMC Embleml Training Center Bainbridge, MD.  Each of the sailors or Marines has passed an examination and an NAPS Logointerview and is considered eligible for one of the appointments allotted to the Secretary of the Navy each year. The school weeds out those who would not make it at  the academy, for academic, personal or motivational reasons. Below are listed the Marines (and one adopted sailor) who attended NAPS in 1963-64 and the Marine Staff that year.  Semper Fi.

W. H. Wishard

The Bainbridge Band of Brothers is your typical gung-ho group of Marines. They are diverse, proud, eclectic, dashing, gritty, argumentative, exuberant, swaggering and staggering. They drink, swear, curse, exaggerate, boast and even fight. They are honorable, respectful, patriotic and secure—but with bigger vocabularies.
